Task, assumptions and data use
- Fictional training data. Twelve vendor invoices received in March 2026 for DEMO Practice Company, which closes its books monthly; the March close is at 2026-03-31.
- Code each invoice to exactly one account from the supplied chart, citing the policy clause that supports it, or mark it as needing information.
- “Needs information” is a valid, often correct, result. Do not estimate splits, guess service periods or assume a business purpose that the invoice does not state.
- Coding is a proposal for human review. Nothing is posted or paid in this exercise.
- The exercise sends only this fictional case through a Cloud Function to Anthropic. Temporary results and quota hashes are stored server-side for 24–48 hours. Reviews and grading stay in this browser.

Firm policy
- P1 Capitalize equipment to 1500 when the cost per unit is $2,500 or more and the useful life exceeds one year. Items below $2,500 per unit go to 6300, even when several are bought on one invoice.
- P2 A payment of $1,200 or more covering a service period that extends beyond the current month is recorded to 1400 Prepaid expenses and amortized monthly. Smaller or single-month amounts are expensed in the period of service.
- P3 Software subscriptions are expensed to 6100 in the period of service, subject to P2 for prepayments.
- P4 Repairs that restore an asset to working condition go to 6400. Work that extends an asset’s life or adds capability is evaluated under P1.
- P5 If one invoice combines items that this policy treats differently and does not state the amount of each, hold it and request an itemized invoice. Do not allocate by estimate.
- P6 Service invoices must state the service period. If the period is missing, hold the invoice for clarification.
- P7 Client meals go to 6500 only when the attendees and the business purpose are documented. Otherwise hold the invoice for documentation.
- P8 Advertising and campaign services go to 6600 in the period the campaign runs.
